The Golden Deer

Rama and Shinta entered their period of exile in the forest. One day, Shinta saw a very cute golden deer hopping around in their cottage yard. Unbeknownst to her, it was a trap set by Ravana. The golden deer was actually Maricha, Ravana’s brother, disguised. The deer caught Shinta’s attention, and she asked her husband to capture it. This innocent request set off a chain of events that would change their lives forever.

Seeing a cute golden deer, Shinta urged Rama to catch it. He pursued the deer into the forest, instructing Laksmana to guard Shinta. Realizing it was no ordinary deer, Rama shot it with an arrow. The deer transformed into Marica, Ravana’s commander.

Hanuman’s Proof

This relief depicts the moment when Hanuman provides evidence in the form of a ring given by Rama to Dewi Shinta, who at that time had been abducted and imprisoned by Ravana in the Alengka Palace. The ring serves as authentic evidence that Hanuman is an envoy of Rama.

A Joyous Reunion

A Joyous Reunion

This relief portrays the happy ending of the story, where Rama is reunited with Shinta. This reunion occurs after successfully defeating Ravana with the help of Sugriva (the king of monkeys) and also with assistance from Hanuman (the white monkey serving as the commander of the monkey army)
